Yellowstone Pipeline Reroute Project EIS
Aspen prepared an EIS to evaluate the potential environmental impacts associated
with the Yellowstone Pipeline Company's application to build a new section of its
petroleum products pipeline in western Montana, as well as the renewal of a special
use permit for its existing pipeline in western Montana and northern Idaho. Because
the proposed project was highly controversial, this EIS included an extensive public
participation program that involved ten scoping meetings and recurring informational
briefings throughout the project study area, as well as six public workshops and six
public hearings on the Draft EIS. Local project libraries, quarterly project
newsletters, a project website and Aspen's Missoula satellite office also provided
effective project information to the public.
