Aspen is managing the preparation of a joint EIR/EIS for the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and USDA Forest Service for an extensive series of transmission system upgrades spanning Kern, Los Angeles, and San Bernardino Counties. These upgrades will provide the transmission system capacity needed to connect new wind energy projects in the Tehachapi area to the California power grid. The project would provide electrical facilities to allow for the integration of up to approximately 4,500 MW of new wind generation in the Tehachapi Wind Resource Area to comply with California's Renewables Portfolio Standard.
